New Hookah Web Store Brings Culture and Tradition to the Internet
Garland, TX (PRWEB) February 25, 2009 -- For many people, hookah is a fascinating experience that is something that American college student do on the weekends. But, the hookah has a far richer multi-cultural history than what most people are aware of. Looking to bridge together the American fascination and their own Middle Eastern tradition, brothers Ahmad Zouhby and Khaled Al-Zouhbi launched www.HookahShopOnline.com, a site that specializes in hookah and its related products.
"We've seen hookah bars opening everywhere," explained Al-Zouhbi. "In our culture this is a social affair and it's something that is becoming accepted in the Western world."
HookahShopOnline.com officially debuted online in February 2008 and carries a wide selection of hookahs and hookah accessories.
"We have experience with hookah because it's a part of who we are," said Zouhby. "We're putting our knowledge out there on our site and our blog."
Though the site is still relatively new, the brothers have recently added a blog called www.HookahChatter.com to their site.
"Anybody can start a website, but it's better to have a well-informed perspective," said Al-Zouhbi.
The blog contains some historical milestones of shisha culture and also has some tips and information about some of the more contemporary hookah practices.
"We want to help bring the culture into the mainstream and help educate people, but it's not our paramount goal," said Zouhby.
While only time will tell if hookah culture will break free out of the collegiate environment in America, its international proliferation increases and its historical and social significance cannot be ignored.
Hookah, essentially, is a way for people to come together and explore interpersonal relationships and, in many ways, can be considered one of life's great pleasures.
